Description

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician 2
Salary: $5,350.00 - $7,201.00
Schedule: 9:30am-6:00pm Monday-Friday
Location: Centralia, WA
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of Pharmacy Technician 2 for the Maple Lane Central Pharmacy located in Centralia, WA. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule.
The Pharmacy Technician 2 supports the mission of the Department of Corrections by ensuring the full provision of quality, timely, and medically appropriate pharmaceutical services as an integral part of continuity of care for patients served by DOC Health Services. This position plays an integral role in ensuring safe, quality pharmaceutical services for DOC patients and is a critical element of facility security due to the highly complex and sensitive correlation between health needs, illness, and full timely access to appropriate pharmaceutical therapy.

Duties

Assist with management of Pharmacy inventory:
  • Participate and assist with daily wholesaler ordering processes.
  • Assist with inventory related audits to ensure on hand amounts meet current set PAR levels.
  • Support LEAN practices with requisition data entry and management.
  • Monitor for necessary changes/updates in Bay Order Form to ensure wholesaler requisition is continually up to date.
  • Provide feedback on adherence to current inventory processes.

Oversee management of prepack inventory:
  • Ensure floor counts occur at least twice a week and maintains prepack spreadsheet.
  • Ensure prepack spreadsheet is up to date based on current estimated usage and provided to staff responsible.
  • Review orders for prepack medications as needed.
  • Collaboratively work with Lead Technicians with guidance of staff responsible for prepack run setup and troubleshoot supply issues.
Provide pharmacy operational backup and team support:
  • Performs the duties of Pharmacy Technicians during staff shortages or high-volume days.
Assist the CIPS Team with system management:
  • Enter NDCs into CIPS to update the system with newly purchased items.
  • Update the Dormant/Display status of NDCs as inventory changes shift.
  • Assist the CIPS MA4 with CIPS medication entry audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity of medication data.
  • Assist the CIPS MA4 with CIPS reporting, public disclosure data requests, and general data support.
Act as the Inventory Manager Pharmacist Supervisor’s backup and an information resource to staff:
  • Relay information and update pharmacy staff about backordered items.
Assist with management of wholesaler returns:
  • Process wholesaler returns as necessary.
  • Track and report wholesaler return trends.
  • Coordinate with the Waste MA4 regarding wasted stock items.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor concerning trends that do not support proper inventory management.
Other duties as assigned:
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Promote safety, be an active participant, be aware, be alert, act safely, and make recommendations.
  • Perform or assist with inspections.
  • Keep abreast of new methods, techniques, and other developments in the field.
  • Remain current concerning specific workflow expectations and processes.
  • Remain current concerning DOC Health Services policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Current State of Washington Pharmacy Technician License. Ensure license is renewed in accordance with WSPQAC regulations and that proof of current licensure is provided by anniversary date to leadership.
  • Skills: Has basic pharmacy skills and demonstrates skill competency.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Pharmacy technician experience in an institutional setting or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office suite to include Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience with pharmacy inventory management.
  • Six (6) months expierence as a Pharmacy Technician 1 within DOC Central Pharmacy.
